Getting a bit tired of the 'Web 2.0' buzzword.... let's rename it!!

Now that the buzzword 'Web 2.0' is on the tip of the senior exec's tongue when speaks about what's next for technology adoption, I was asked by a buddy in my program the other day to explain it what it is...... bit of a problem!!

Drupal Picasa Thumbnail size bug

Since Google changed the Picasa Web Albums Feed API, users have complained that the thumbnail size when they view albums in Drupal is too small ( see issue Something has changed.....)

I've not produced a patched picasa.module but if you make the following change to the beginning of the picasa_display_album_contents function, namely adding the thumbsize parameter to the feed call you should be able to fix the size problem.

function picasa_display_album_contents() {
global $base_url;

Web 2.0 or Web 20?

I thought I kept up to speed with a good deal of new web technologies surfacing here and there through my regular perusal of the tech rags, but I can honestly say I've heard of *none* of these product offerings.

The Threat Level Categories of Coders

My buddy Alex over at Hackd.net wrote this funny system of classification for Software Coders, which if you want to play a little Devil's advocate you can consider as a Security Threat Level coding system......

JavaLobby posting comment on IBM Project Zero License

So IBM came out with a new Project...... Project zero!!!
After reading the posting on JavaLobby and some of the comments, there seems to be some angst toward the licensing terms.... here's my thoughts:

Can I be so bold as to Hypothesize an alternative explanation to IBM's license choice.

Given the project is probably at the bleeding edge pre-Alpha stage, perhaps they are 'soft' launching and providing their code to gauge interest in both the code, the project and the overall ideas it centers around.

Microsoft is coming to the Vanc....

So I jump in my car this morning, pull out of the garage, turn on the radio and what is the first thing I hear....
Microsoft is opening up shop in Vancouver.

From the CBC news article, it will be a Development shop that will start out with a couple hundred staff. The interesting things is that Sharif Khan, vice president of human resources of Microsoft Canada said,

Picasa Bug Report on BSOD when uploading web album

Hi,

I have been attempting to (on several occasions) upload a folder of
pictures up to my picasaweb album,

There are about 200 photos in the album. Picasa at the moment will
upload about 8 of them and then my machine will blue screen and
reboot. Unfortunately at the moment I'm unable to see the error as the
machine reboots to quickly.

I've attempted to upload the same folder several times, and each time
the bsod occurs the same photos have been uploaded before the crash.

I'm uncertain if this is the correct forum for posting a bug report,
